Stochastic Optimization of a Nonlinear Base Isolation System with LRB and EIMD for Building Structures

چکیده

Base-isolated structures achieve superior seismic performance but with the cost of large deformation base floor, which possibly causes superstructure collapse during severe earthquakes. Hence, it is great interest to develop hybrid isolation systems that can reduce and simultaneously improve superstructure’s performance. Recently, several using inerter-based dampers have emerged; however, nonlinear isolators has rarely been considered in these studies. In this paper, we conduct a stochastic optimization novel system lead-rubber bearings (LRB) electromagnetic inertial mass (EIMD). Based on Bouc–Wen hysteretic model LRB, derive semianalytical solutions response variances simplified base-isolated subjected stationary excitations. Then, based solutions, propose procedure for optimizing EIMD aimed at minimizing interstory drift. addition, investigate effect site conditions postyielding preyielding stiffness ratios LRB optimal parameters corresponding It found achieves better soft than firm site. Results building under artificial real earthquake excitations illustrate both response, outperforms conventional viscous (VD).

Study of Base-Isolation Building System

In order to improve the effect of isolation structure, the principles and behaviours of the base-isolation system are studied, and the types and characteristics of the base-isolation are also discussed. Compared to the traditional aseismatic structures, the base isolation structures decrease the seismic response obviously: the total structural aseismatic value decreases to 1/4-1/32 and the seis...

investigating the feasibility of a proposed model for geometric design of deployable arch structures

deployable scissor type structures are composed of the so-called scissor-like elements (sles), which are connected to each other at an intermediate point through a pivotal connection and allow them to be folded into a compact bundle for storage or transport. several sles are connected to each other in order to form units with regular polygonal plan views. the sides and radii of the polygons are...

Automatic generation of smart earthquake-resistant building system: Hybrid system of base-isolation and building-connection

A base-isolated building may sometimes exhibit an undesirable large response to a long-duration, long-period earthquake ground motion and a connected building system without base-isolation may show a large response to a near-fault (rather high-frequency) earthquake ground motion. To overcome both deficiencies, a new hybrid control system of base-isolation and building-connection is proposed and...

OPTIMAL SMART BASE ISOLATION SYSTEM FOR MULTIPLE EARTHQUAKES

Hybrid control system composed of a base isolation system and a magneto-rheological damper so-called smart base isolation is one of effective semi-active control system in controlling the seismic response of structures. In this paper, a design method is proposed for designing the smart base isolation system in order to achieve an effective performance under multiple earthquakes. The base mass, ...

a comparison of teachers and supervisors, with respect to teacher efficacy and reflection

supervisors play an undeniable role in training teachers, before starting their professional experience by preparing them, at the initial years of their teaching by checking their work within the proper framework, and later on during their teaching by assessing their progress. but surprisingly, exploring their attributes, professional demands, and qualifications has remained a neglected theme i...
